The Prez Sports Handicapping Profile
Who is the Prez?
We asked Prez a few questions regarding his gambling history, style and experiences.
Where are you based out of?
I live in Toronto, Canada, spend a lot of time in the summers at the Poker Tables in Vegas and the winters you can find me on the Ski Slopes in Whistler Vancouver.
How man Years have you been Handicapping?
I started betting in 1994, became a full time gambler in 1997 and founded Who2beton in 1999, with the help of the late Frank Matthews and the Great JB Sports. I spend the 1st year setting up the business and started selling my plays in 2000.
What are the Systems and methods you use for Selections?
My process is simple. I pick what I want to play using my system and then I start the real research before releasing the plays.
As the President(AKA - The Prez - of Who2beton, I have access to every play from every service offered. I also speak to 10 different bookmakers a week including some of the largest offshore bookmakers in the World. I know where most of the money is going almost every week, including what Syndicates from Boston, Dallas, New York and Hong Kong are betting. I would argue that I am one of the most connected people inside the industry that sells plays publicly.
By the time I put out a play, it has gone through my own program, been spoken about with Experts on the site and others and been checked through my bookmaking connections.
I do not handicap my own plays, so to speak. I have no software system, or power ranking, I don't study that many numbers, or trends and I have no key angles on any game I ever play.
In regards to my own system, my number 1 strategy is to 'take what the book gives me'. I do not believe in conspiracy theories, fake lines, bookies trying to bait you, and all the other stupidity most follow. If the Colts go over every game, you will find me on the Over.
How do you Rate your Selections?
I have changed my rating system over the years. I used to put out 5 and 10 Unit plays, but have since lowered them in keeping with the rest of the website. 2007 will see me using 7* bets for the 1st time.
- I am a high volume NFL bettor and can release as many as 10 NFL Plays on a Sunday.
- 3 Unit plays are Actions
- 5 Unit Plays are Best Bets
- 5, 7 and 10 Unit Bets are Top Plays - Title games like Game of Week
What are the Sports you are best at Winning in?
NFL, NFL and NFL - that is my favorite sport to bet, the sport I am best at and the one I personally put most money on. My 2nd best sport is College Football and the NBA and MLB are tied for 3rd.
Name something people tend to overlook or miss when handicapping a game?
I spend more time on coaches than anything else. Most handicappers study systems, like what % of Dogs have covered after 2 losses or trends like, how many times New England has beaten Pitt. For me, although I care about those things, I am more interested in how many times Lovie Smith has motivated his team to a big win after a home loss.
What is your Favorite movie of all time (doesn't have to be gambling related)?
That is an easy one, although this year alone, I loved Blood Diamond, Batman Begins and The Prestige and movies like The Princess Bride, Chronicles of Riddick and Shawshank are right up there, the number 1 movie for me period is The Great Escape. Something I think about a lot with 2 minutes to go, ball in hand, down by 1 and needing a TD instead of a FG to cover.
Is their one piece of advice you can give to new gamblers?
Call me at 1 866 888 2388 before you make a bet and I will personally advise you on anything you want to know.
