#10 LSU Tigers vs. Mississippi Rebels 3:30 ET 11/21/09

SEC action presents us with a crucial Week 12 battle when LSU and Ole Miss throw down in Oxford.

College football bettors are in for a football betting treat Saturday afternoon when HC Les Miles and his 10th ranked Tigers (8-2, 4-6 ATS) invade Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to battle HC Houston Nutt’s Ole Miss Rebels (7-3, 6-4 ATS). LSU sleepwalked through its 24-16 victory against Louisiana Tech last week, while the Rebels took the Tennessee Volunteers about behind the proverbial woodshed and served up a good old fashioned SEC beating winning 42-17.

Mississippi originally opened up as 3-point home favorites for today’s SEC West clash, but has since been bought up by the betting public and currently sits as 4.5-point chalks with a game ‘total’ of 42.5. Both side and total can be wagered upon at BoDog Sportsbook right now!

Last week wasn't the greatest for HC Les Miles' club, but there were a ton of reasons to point towards the lackluster effort against Louisiana Tech. QB Jordon Jefferson missed the game after suffering an ankle injury against Alabama two weeks ago. He was suited and was reportedly available for action, but instead, QB Jarrett Lee got the nod. Lee was awful to say the least. He went 7/22 for 104 yards and a touchdown. On top of that, the Tigers were coming off of the emotional loss to Alabama and had a vintage sandwich game with Ole Miss coming this week. In the end, the Bayou Bengals did enough to win the game, but needless to say, a 24-16 result against a WAC team not named Boise State isn't going to turn any heads.

However, the Rebels did plenty of turning heads on Saturday! RB Dexter McCluster had a field day, combining to rush and receive for 325 yards and four touchdowns to lead Ole Miss to an impressive 42-17 victory over Tennessee. McCluster and reserve RB Brandon Bolden combined to account for 387 of Mississippi's 492 yards against one of the best defenses in the SEC, if not the entire country. However, QB Jevan Snead had another iffy game, as he went just 13/20 for 133 yards with an interception. Ole Miss sports the 23rd best defense in the country, allowing just 313.0 yards per game, but of its seven wins this year, only two have come against teams that are going bowling (Auburn and Arkansas).

LSU enters this one looking to avenge last year’s 31-13 pummeling at home. Mississippi’s resounding road win last season snapped a streak of six in a row for the Tigers. LSU’s just 2-3 ATS this season and a poor 5-15 ATS vs. SEC opponents the L/3 seasons. They’re also a very poor 1-9 ATS their L/10 November games, while Mississippi is a sparkling 7-0-2 ATS their L/9 games played in the second to last month of the year. That said; the underdog is 8-1 ATS the L/9 meetings, but LSU’s a pathetic 1-7 ATS vs. Mississippi. Something’s got to give!!!
