The Indians earned their first ever trip to a bowl game last season when it knocked off North Texas in their season finale to grab the ever elusive sixth win. Last years squad got some huge efforts from a number of offensive players that have now departed. This year’s squad returns 14 starters, eight on defense, but has a much different look to it overall. Gone are the experienced field general and RB, but back is a fully intact WR corps and one of the better O-Lines in the SBC. This offense should come close to matching the 25 PPG it averaged last year. Defensively, the Indians look tough. Their back seven could be the best in the SBC, while the D-Line loses a pair of studs from a year ago. This could be the best unit Head Coach Roberts has had since his arrival. The Indians were very fortunate to win as many games as they did a year ago. Their key to success was protecting their home turf where they went 5-0 last season. Unfortunately, they only get five of their 12 games at home this season, so they’ll have to pick their play up on the road if they expect to go bowling in back-to-back seasons.
