KENTUCKY WILDCATS O:9 D:7
It’s been six year’s since the Wildcats lost saw bowl action, but the Lexington faithful is hoping HC Rich Brooks and his 17 returning starters get back to the post-season. With nine starters returning to the offense, which includes all five on the O-Line, the Wildcats should easily topple the 21 PPG they averaged a season ago. The RB corps has depth with RB’s Rafael Little and Tony Dixon, and the WR corps should have a bounce back season that saw the unit get ravaged with injuries in ’05. QB Andre Woodson looked brilliant at times, but made a number of bonehead mistakes at crucial points. Look for him to be more confident and aggressive with a season’s worth of starting experience under his belt. The defense returns seven from a unit that was beaten to a bloody pulp in every way imaginable a season ago. They did add some solid talent and have depth, but it’ll remain to be seen if experience is enough to get this unit to a respectable status in ’06. The Wildcats boast tons of speed on both the kick and punt return special team units as they ranked in the top 5 of the NCAA a season ago.
The Wildcats should show a dramatic improvement in the upcoming season. Whether it translates into more wins is yet to be seen, but they should be much more competitive on both sides of the ball.
