Now that we’ve all had the opportunity to gather our collective thoughts and come to the fact that Randy Moss won’t be catching passes from Brett Favre any more this season, it’s time to focus on more important things.
Like, where will Moss end up and how can you make money of that destination.
Here are a few things to think about.
The first thing to consider is the Bills have the first shot once he hits waivers because they own the worst record in the league. Coming off of their recent T.O. Experience, however, who knows how Buffalo will feel about adding another testy prima donna receiver. They are listed at +800 to land him, mostly because of that.
The Chargers at +250 are considered the favorites to land Moss. The reasoning is TE Antonio Gates is nursing an injured toe and leading WR Vincent Jackson STILL isn’t ready to play. If San Diego is going to make a run they need to a) do it soon and b) give QB Philip Rivers someone legit to throw to.
The Titans and the Rams are both listed as +300. The Rams are in obvious need of receiving help considering they have lost their top two receivers this season. Tennessee is looking for a big play guy after watching Kenny Britt injure his hamstring this weekend. Reports are that Titans players have already tried to talk head coach Jeff Fisher into signing Moss.
The Jets, Dolphins and Raiders are all +800. The Jets are just panicky enough after this weekend’s shutout at the hands of the Packers to do something this crazy. The question is can Braylon Edwards and Moss coexist? Peacefully? Miami could use a complement to Brandon Marshall. But refer to the Braylon-Randy question above. It would be an interesting move if for no other reason than to keep him from returning to New England, which is listed at +1,000.
Oakland would complete the Randy Moss Circle, since that’s where he went the last time he left Minnesota. His presence would give the Raiders a true No. 1 receiver since, well…since the last time Moss was in Oakland. Plus, everyone knows owner Al Davis is always looking to make splashy headlines.
The Colts check in at +1,000 as well. And, after having receivers Pierre Garcon, Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie and TE Dallas Clark all suffer injuries at some point this season (Clark and Collie are done for the year), it would seem like a no-brainer. Peyton Manning to Randy Moss has a nice ring to it. The big issue is the Colts hold their players to a high standard and we’re not sure Moss meets that standard.
The final team is the Dallas Cowboys at +1,200. Even with owner Jerry Jones surely fingering the trigger on his Mix-Up-This-Team gun, it’s a long shot we’ll get to see Moss catch passes from Tony Romo. If you think Dallas has chemistry issues now, think about adding a dash of hydrochloric acid in the form of Moss. The Cowboys have already said they aren’t interested.
